10.
Just Us.
There are times when we want to smack people in the head, claw their eyes out and probably kill them. It was how I felt right now. Not because Silver had subtly staked a claim on Ian, but because of the way she said it.
"I'm sure that's good advice, sweetie," Fanny said. "But it depends on him if he wants to follow the advice."
Silver cracked a smile. "I guess so. I should go."
I just nodded. She went out and I left out a huff of breath. Stupid Silver. Fanny smiled at me. "Don't pay heed to her, darling. Maybe she's looking out for a friend."
"If you say so," I muttered. "I think I should go. The whole purpose of this visit is gone now."
"It isn't. Think about it, Khloe. And you two haven't been in touch with each other for five years. Things change. You have changed. And so has he, I think."
"So, what do you think I should do?"
"Go with the flow," She smiled kindly at me. And maybe those four words changed my life more than possible.
"Thank you grandma," I hugged her. When I walked out, Ian and Silver weren't there. Relief passed through me, though I was a bit let down. Ian did tell me that we would go together.
I walked towards my bike, quickly leaving a Marley a text that I was leaving. I looked at my bike, and surprise passed through me. Ian was leaning on my bike like it was no big deal.
He saw me, and a grin lit up his face. "I thought I should come in, but I saw you come out."
"How?" I was pretty sure I sounded like I saw Mars. "Didn't you leave with Silver?"
"You know her?" Ian frowned.
I rolled my eyes. "She met me when I was in the kitchen."
"And?" Ian prodded.
I shrugged. "Nothing else. She left after a bit of small talk."
"You aren't going to tell me anything, are you?"
I shook my head. "Not today at least."
"I'll call for a cab?" Ian asked.
"I have a bike Ian. I know how to ride. And I ride the bike well."
"Its dangerous," Ian said, his eyes already glazing with anger.
"I'm not a kid, Ian!" I exclaimed, exasperated.
"I know, Khloe." I countered.
"Ian, you are being unreasonable."
"If we're going to use the damn thing, I'm riding it," Ian said, finality in his voice.
I raised my eyebrows. "You know how to ride?"
Ian winked at me, shooting me his infamous smirk. "I have to maintain my bad boy reputation."
I couldn't help it, I laughed. Like, throwing your head back, because someone said something really funny laughter. Ian smiled at me, tenderness crossing his face.
"We should leave, milady," Ian grinned. "We have plans."
"We do?"
"Yeah. Now, get on quickly, Khlo."
"If I get killed..." I trailed off.
"I will get along with you. Now, get on."
"So bossy," I muttered, getting on the bike behind him.
"You wouldn't have me any other way, kitten." Ian said, and I knew that he was smirking. "Hold on tight."
"That sounds like a cheap pick up line," I smirked.
Ian didn't answer. Instead, he revved up the bike and it lurched forward. I caught his shoulders just in time, making him laugh. I hit his back, but a smile lit my face.
Ian rode the bike well. I had to give him that. I rested my head against his back, loving the feel of him. He was my drug, and I just couldn't get enough of him.
"We're here," Ian said and I frowned.
"The cinema?"
"We're watching a movie." Ian smiled at me. The real Ian Wilder smile.
"Which movie?" I asked. Ian knew as well as I did that I wasn't a big movie fan. I only watched some movies.
Ian grinned at me. "Surprise sweetheart."
I groaned. "Ian!"
"Let's go," Ian said. He slowly took my hand off his waist. I huffed and got off the bike. I crossed my arms around my chest, glaring at Ian. He got off, taking off the helmet.
My breath got caught in my throat as he grinned at me. He looked like those perfect models. Tousled hair, sparkling green eyes and an amazing smile to go with.
"C'mon Grumpy Pants," Ian chuckled, looping my hand with his and dragging me into the cinema. He paid for the tickets before I could say anything, pulling me inside.
The place wasn't full, and it was different. There weren't the usual seats you saw. There were couches big enough to hold three people. Couples were cuddled up on some couches. Ian pulled me on a couch and instantly, I was at his side. I still maintained a distance between us. Well, before he pulled me into him, so that my head was in the crook of his neck.
When the movie started, I almost squealed with delight. Ian had bought me for The Notebook. This was my favourite movie! I used to watch it all the time, Ian just holding me while I cried or yelled at Noah or Allie.
"You remember," I whispered, just as the movie started.
I felt Ian shift. He lift his face, his eyes meeting mine. "I never forgot."
I couldn't help it, I leaned up and kissed his cheek. Throughout the movie, Ian held me, not saying a word as I cried or even hit his hand when something in the movie didn't go right.
"What now?" I asked as we stood outside.
Ian grinned at me. "How about a stroll in the park?"
I nodded. But soon, a blush covered my cheeks as I remembered the last time we both were in a park. Ian saw that, and a smirk spread across his face.
He took my hand in his, walking towards the park. We walked for a bit, both of us quiet. We had to talk. I knew it. And I knew Ian. He would talk, but only when he felt the tine was right.
We sat down under a tree, watching the kids play, a soothing calm settling upon us.
"Why did you leave Khlo?" Ian asked after sometime. "No bullshit answer. I want the real deal."
"I was afraid of my feelings for you," I whispered. "We were going out only for two years! And you owned me. Body, mind and soul."
"That scared you?"
"More than anything," I replied. "And we were only eighteen. That isn't an excuse, I know. But at the time, anything seemed like a good enough reason."
"But why did it scare you, Khloe?" Ian asked, an edge to his voice.
"You always told me that your parents met I high school too. They fell madly in love and married right out is high school. But when we were together, everytime I even spoke to your parents, they didn't seem like they were in love. And you told me that yourself."
"I'm not going to lie, Khloe, I'm pissed. But I get where you're coming from."
"I'm sorry," I whispered.
"Don't be, sweetheart." Ian smiled. "Maybe we wouldn't be here."
"It didn't look like it affected you," the words slipped out of my mouth. Ian raised his eyebrows. "I came to the airport. The day you left for Florida. It really didn't seem like you went through a break up."
"Looks can be deceiving, kitten." Ian replied. "I was devastated."
"How was Florida?"
Ian sighed. "Horrible, at first. But I got hand of if."
"I missed you," I said. "Even though I haven't really shown it."
"You don't have to show anything to me, kitten." Ian murmured, cupping my cheek. "I cam still read you. You're still my Khloe."
The next words I said, made me want to run away. "What about Silver?"
Ian frowned. "What about her?"
"Aren't you guys...?"
Ian scowled. "No. Silver is my friend."
I didn't realize how much that bothered until now. I breathed a sigh of relief.
"I didn't realize you were so jealous," Ian smirked.
I narrowed my eyes at him. "I'm not."
Ian laughed. "Whatever helps you sleep at night."
I scowled, turning away from him. "Go away."
Ian chuckled. He lifted my face towards his, and I was surprised by the softness I saw there. "I missed this so much Khloe. Just us. Spending time. I honestly thought that I had lost you."
Tears formed in my eyes, and I reached up and pressed my lips to his. I missed this too.
Just us.
