11.
When the Cat is Away.
"We should get going," I murmured, tracing Ian's hand. He was still holding me, as we watched the kids play, and couples walk around.
"We should." Ian agreed.
I chuckled. "We have to get up for that."
Ian lifted my face to his, and kissed my lips. "Shush. Stop being such a buzz kill."
I frowned, narrowing my eyes at him. Ian grinned cheekily at me, making me laugh. My phone rang and I quickly took it out of my pocket. Parker.
"Hey Parker," I answered, only to be greeted with furious yelling.
"Where the hell are you Khloe?" Parker almost yelled. "You left Fanny's place hours ago. You aren't at home. Even Marley is worried."
Guilt consumed me. What was I doing? I knew that both of would be worried, but I blatantly ignored the fact, and roamed around with Ian.
"I'm so sorry Parker. I'm sitting in the park. I'll be home in twenty."
"I'm waiting," Parker replied curtly. Without waiting for me to say anything, he cut the call. I sighed, getting up.
"Khlo?" Ian's voice snapped me out of my trance.
"We should go. Parker's getting sick with worry, and he is furious with me."
Ian frowned. "You need Parker's permission to stay out?"
I shook my head. "Of course not. I don't need Parker's permission. I told him I was sick in the morning, and he knows that I don't take much care of myself."
Ian nodded. "Okay, let's go then."
This time, the ride back home was filled with tension. I knew that Ian wouldn't understand how Parker and I worked.
Parker made me. He was a breath of fresh air for me in London. He didn't want to take me to bed, he saw me for the broken girl I was.
Parker made me strong. And I gave Parker a reason to believe in friendship. To believe that he could trust me with all he had, and I would never bail out on him.
Once home, I almost ran to my apartment, leaving Ian behind. I opened the door, to find Parker watching TV.
"Hey," I said softly, assessing the situation.
Parker looked at me in surprise. "I was worried Khlo."
"I know. I'm so sorry."
"Where were you?"
"She was with me." I heard Ian say behind me, before I could say anything.
"Ian? You guys were together?"
"I actually finished work early, and since I know that Khloe didn't go to work, I asked her to show me London."
Parker looked calmer. "That's a good thing. I was afraid."
Ian frowned. "Afraid?"
I looked at Parker in alarm. He saw my look, and just smiled at me.
"Khloe has a tendency to get lost."
Ian frowned. "Okay. I'm going to go freshen up."
I glared at Parker after Ian left. "Really? You think I would do something like that?"
******
IAN'S POV.
I walked out, sensing the sudden change in the atmosphere. Khloe seemed angry with Parker. Just as I was about to close the door, I hear Khloe.
"Really? You think I would do something like that?"
Parker replied. "You still aren't over it Khloe. And you know as well I do, sometimes you get lost."
Lost? What were they talking about?
Khloe almost yelled at Parker. "I stopped Parker! I don't want to torture myself anymore! Can't you see?"
I wanted to look in and see what was happening. I wanted to know what was going on.
"Shh..." Parker said softly. "I know Khloe. And I'm sorry for bringing it up."
Bringing it up?
"Parker..." Khloe sounded different. She wanted to prove herself to Parker. "I really haven't."
"I believe you."
This time Parker's voice was incredibly soft. I got annoyed. Khloe was mine, and I wanted yo know everything that went on with her.
I peaked into her house, only to find Parker's lips firmly landed on hers.
