Chapter Two

I stand up quickly and try to pretend I don't know who is standing in front of me. I keep praying, "Please do not recognize me? Please, please, please?" Sadly, to say I do not have that kind of fortune to fool any of my brothers much less Alpha Cameron.

What is it with my brothers that they feel they must control my life? I should have run away to a different continent. I know that isn't possible, as they would use trackers to hunt me down.

Cameron walks up to me and starts talking, "I heard about an employee that worked late at night, and this employee found major coding issues and fixed them. I thought I would come down and meet this employee. I should have known it was you, Clair, really using your middle name and then mom's maiden name on your resume? You realize that is falsifying documentation?"

I can hear the guys mutter in shock that I am one of the upper echelons of the company. My brother walks over and takes off my thick-rimmed glasses and takes out the makeshift slicked back bun.

I ball up my fists, "I can dress anyway I see fit. I also like being down here Cameron!"

My brother just laughs and points at me to follow him. I look back with a sheepish smile at my friends behind me and wave goodbye.

"We have an important client for lunch today, and I want you there with me sis. You are maybe a pain in my arse, but you are diplomatic towards strangers. I need you to change out of the library garb and into something more normal. I have sent my secretary with your size, and she will get you ready for this lunch."

I follow my brother up to the corporate floor, where all the rest of my five brothers are. I can see their smiles as they laugh that I have been once again retrieved.

Cameron and Camden flank each side of me, like I am going to run? Hmm.. that may not be such a bad idea, that thought leaves my brain as soon as I contemplate running. These guys would always, and I mean always catch me.

Cameron -

We all walk into the boardroom. I am uncertain why my sister hates being who she is in relation to her pack and our family? I just shake my head not knowing what to think.

"Mom, Dad, look who the geek is that discovered the bad coding? None other than your daughter, Clair. Oh, I forgot she goes by Ann Calderon.'

Clair -

I can see my mother's mouth drop open, and then she looks at me and she asks, "Why are you pretending to be someone else baby?"

I stand up from the chair I have sat in, to give more emphasis to my point. "I want to be my person, that accomplishes successes on her own merit, not piggy backing off the successes of family!" I throw myself back into the chair, huffing as I feel a sting on my butt from sitting down too hard.

Clair's mother smiles softly proud of the independence of her daughter, her daughter will make a good Luna one day.

Luna Constance -

"Everyone who is not sitting down please sit. We have much to discuss, 1. being the Moonlight dance for unmated wolves. Clair, I want you and your brothers Corbin and Connor to head the committee."

Clair -

I can't believe it! They are trying to get me right back into pack life. I stand up and pound my fist on the desk. I need them to listen to me, and I mean really listen to me, not just smile, and nod, and then have me do what they want, anyway.

Luna Constance -

"Dear Clair, could you please not throw a tantrum right now?"

Clair -

Trying to calm down, I take deep breaths, "I want to not be a part of pack life!"

Uh Oh, I did it, my father looks angry, my oldest brothers look confused and the youngest two see me as entertainment.

Luna Constance -

"Clair, do you mean become a rogue? I won't have it!"

Clair -

"No, I want to be a lone wolf. I don't want to be in my brother's shadows anymore. I am twenty years old now, I am an adult. Shouldn't I be able to choose how I live my life?"

Luna Constance -

"Dear, you are an Alpha's daughter, that means some Alpha will be without their Luna putting their pack in danger!"

Clair -

"Have that Alpha pick a chosen mate, I know that happens often!"

My brother Cameron stands up and then looks at me and then my mother. "Mother, Clair, why don't we negotiate? Neither one of you wants to back down, thus we need you two to meet in the middle. Clair, concede about you living off pack land, but not too far away. Besides that, freedom that we will allow, you still need to attend the events that are important to mother?"

Clair -

I sit down, nodding my head, knowing this is the best negotiation they would offer me. I nod off, but Corbin and Connor have to be annoying poking my legs with sharpened pencils under the table. I keep thinking that my brothers may look older, but they are only five years of age mentally.

I am not paying much attention to the business meeting until I hear something that makes my neck hairs stand on end. "Clair, you will be the Royal Packs ambassador."

"What???" I scream not meaning to. "I am educated! I do not intend on babysitting the Royalty!"

My mother sighs, "Clair, it only means you are the negotiator, that will not be your actual job. If you have been listening, you would know what you are doing in this company!"

Sheepishly, I apologize to my mother and ask, "What is it you would have me do for the company mother?"

My mother smiles broadly now and explains the situation. "We believe there is a high-tech thief in the company, they are stealing funds and data from us. We just cannot figure out who is doing it. We know how smart you are, and we want you in charge of finding that person, so he or she can come to justice!"

I am looking forward to becoming a coding detective because of this. Everyone looks at me worried. I have a habit of yelling if something doesn't suit me. I surprise my family by saying thank you instead of yelling.

With previous meetings I have attended, my father's wolf doesn't like the disrespect I give the Alphas, so he would avoid leading the meetings. We are almost certain my wolf and his would get into a yelling argument, and the boys would drag my dad off, with my mom following to calm him down with their mate bond.

Back to my two idiot brothers who stuck sharpened pencils in my legs and had angered me, I now plot revenge.

After I excuse myself from the table and explain I have to use the restroom, I run into their office they share. Each chair has a huge tack on it. Wouldn't you think they would notice the tacks? Probably not. They are too oblivious to things that aren't sexy girls and games.

I hear everyone head to their offices; I am laughing even before they sit on the tacks, 1... 2... 3... Both my brothers scream in pain, yelling out my name. Deserves them right!
