A New Beginning

Camille stood at the bustling airport, her eyes fixed on her luggage as it moved sluggishly along the conveyor belt. The luggage disposal area always disgusted her—everything seemed chaotic and impersonal, an overwhelming contrast to the delicate order she valued. Her father, Alex, had recently accepted a job offer in Chicago, uprooting their lives and forcing Camille to move with her parents from their charming home in Paris.

With high cheekbones, a button nose, and wide hazel eyes framed by long lashes, Camille was effortlessly enchanting. Her wavy chestnut hair cascaded down her back, starkly contrasting her pale complexion. Despite her delicate appearance, her demeanor was one of quiet determination.

Her mother, Kate, tried to cheer her up as they navigated through the sea of travelers.

“Cheer up, Camille. A new adventure awaits us,” her mother said, her smile faltering as she noticed her daughter’s downcast expression.

Camille sighed, giving no answer. “You're not going to talk to me?” her mom persisted. “This isn’t easy for me either, but we must support your dad. He deserves this promotion.”

Camille gave her a look. “But what about me? Do I deserve this? It’s autumn... October 15th. What could be worse than starting your last year of school in a new country with new classmates?”

Her mom smiled sadly and murmured, “I’m sure you’ll make friends, being this nice.”

Just then, as Camille reached for her suitcase, someone pushed her roughly from behind. Whirling around, she struggled to keep from switching to all the swearing words she knew in French.

“Watch it! There are people standing here, you coward!” she snapped, her thick French accent unmistakable.

To her surprise, the person responsible was a tall, strikingly handsome guy. His sun-kissed blond hair was tousled just enough to be charming, and his eyes were a mesmerizing shade of ocean blue that made Camille’s heart skip a beat. He had a strong jawline and an almost palpable confidence. A laugh escaped from his lips, revealing a set of perfect teeth that only added to his allure.

"Sorry about that, cutie," he said with a smirk, not looking sorry at all.

As if things couldn’t get more bewildering, Camille’s eyes were then caught by an identical pair of ocean-blue eyes just beyond the first. It dawned on her—twins. The second guy was the spitting image of his brother but had a slightly more relaxed air. His grin was just as captivating.

“At least one good thing in this airport,” she murmured, making sure they couldn’t hear her. “But wait...two?” Her thoughts swirled in her head like leaves caught in an autumn breeze.
