The Stranger

RENEE

“Apply the sunscreen all over your body. Don’t leave a part dry. We’re staying at the beach all through the afternoon, and we won’t be back till….”

I rolled my eyes, my hands clumsily massaging my skin while I tried to obey my best friend’s orders.

Finally, I was having a fun-filled time in Miami.

With Nicole’s persistence and support, I was able to muster all the courage in me, and going back to the apartment I shared with my cheating ex-boyfriend, I packed all my stuff since he was not at home when I went there; I just left him a goodbye note.

I didn’t even care about the money he was supposed to refund since I was not staying all through the rental period and the foodstuffs we had bought together; I left it all for him.

I was taking on a new leaf, just like Nicole had advised, and I was intent on seeing it through.

Erasing his contacts, blocking him on all my social media handles, and severely cutting all ties with him, I knew I had to move on with my life, and slowly I was embracing this new step.

I was now single, Nicole was also, and together the both of us had decided to enjoy life to the fullest.

Starting from this vacation in Miami, we would forget all about any worries for the meantime and focus solely on ourselves. Doing each and everything that would bid well for us.

Today was our second day, and honestly, my experience was satisfying.

Ever since I’d stepped down from the train and inhaled the fresh air and breeze in this new city, I felt refreshed and hopeful.

I was going to have fun, irrespective of whatever or whomever, and I was most grateful to Nicole for persuading me on this trip.

“You look damn stunning, girl.” Nicole whistled, coming to stand behind me by the full-length mirror in the small room, and I grinned happily.

My eyes roaming through the almost sheer outfit, I voiced out, “Well, last night I was a bit too shy at the beach party, so today I decided to be bolder; that’s why I’m going for something more daring.”

“Well, this is more than daring bitch. You look hot.” Nicole chimed in, her jaw dropping open at the same time.

A blush crept up my cheeks, but the little powder and makeup I applied earlier did well in concealing the subtle guise, and once again, I appraised the outfit on my body.

I had a large hat on and a see-through woolen wrap skirt and bra tops.

My curves were in full display, and with the line of my panties accentuating my assets, I did look hot, just like Nicole confirmed, and the realization had me swallowing heavily.

I was not so voluptuous, but still, I was very curvy. With large boobs and hips that went on for days, I could easily describe myself as an hourglass lady, with every required detail to make a man go crazy, and once again, I subtly wondered how Dylan still cheated on me with all these.

Now more than ever, the saying that nothing could keep a man except one who wanted to be kept was all too true, and I believed it so much.

I was curvier than that bitch on the bed with him, and I was even more pretty, but still, he had…

“Hey, ma’am…” Nicole interrupted my thoughts, hands waving in front of my face and blinking twice; I returned to reality.

“I’ve been talking to you, but no response; what’s in your head, girl? Don’t tell me you’re thinking about that good for nothing….”

“No!” I answered quickly, lying through my teeth as I continued, “I’m not thinking about him at all, Nicole. He’s the past, and this is the present.”

“Then why didn’t you r….”

“I was staring at my beautiful body.” I winked, cutting through her statement, and doing a little twirl, I grabbed Nicole’s hands and uttered happily, “What are we still waiting for? Let’s go, shall we?”

Nicole gave me a look indicating that she didn’t utterly believe what I had just said, but I was not divulging any more information, that was for sure.

Gripping her wrist tightly and walking towards the room’s exit, I dragged Nicole as we left for the beach.

~•~

The sun was scorching this afternoon, burning heavily, and I was grateful to Nicole for forcing me to wear lots of sunscreen before coming out.

Had I disobeyed that and done as I pleased, I would have burned.

As I remembered my very delicate skin, I shuddered, thinking about the red patches that would have been on my skin had I refused to obey Nicole’s orders.

Stretched on a lounge chair, my sunglasses atop my pert nose, I was sunbathing and tanning beautifully.

I was all alone as Nicole had left some time ago to talk to some random stranger she’d acquainted herself with while I stayed over. I wasn’t in the mood to make any small talk now so being here was convenient.

Yawning slightly, I winced slowly, my hands going to my dry, parched throat, and I hissed softly in pain.

The tropical fruit juice I’d gotten earlier was almost finished, and my mouth was burning up already.

“Dang it!” I cursed inwardly, slowly getting up from the chair and proceeding to put on my mini flip-flops, I decided to refill my cup and come back to rest.

Soon I was on my way to the mini snacks shop, and quickly requesting an order, I made my payment, and just as I was about to leave, I heard a deep baritone voice from behind me say, “I’ll have what the lady is having, please. Two cups, to be exact.”

I stepped back, wanting to leave, but I couldn’t. The stranger who had just requested a replica of my order was behind me, and the way he was standing had me trapped in between, his cool breath fanning my neck, with the hair on my skin standing raptly.

I gulped nervously and opened my mouth to say something, but then I closed them back when the veiniest hands I’d ever seen stretched forwards, placing stacks of dollar bills on the counter.

Those hands… looked so strong, and I could only imagine the hot face behind the web-like scorched wrists.

“You can keep the change.” The masculine voice from behind said again, and then there was some shuffle like he was trying to give me some space. Luckily, my guess was correct because when I took another step back, he was no more behind me, and I swirled around, intent on seeing this rather prude stranger.

Whatever I’d been thinking about flew away the instant I set my eyes on him, and heat wafted through my cheeks as I blinked again and again.

Standing in front of me, with a wink and sneaky smile, was the most handsome man I’d ever seen.

If ‘sin’ were human, then he’d effortlessly be the embodiment of it.That was the first word that came to mind as soon as I caught a full glimpse of his face, unlike any other I’d ever seen.

His eyes were like two deep hypnotic oceans, intense and sharp, with an unreadable glint gleaming in them – which I would undoubtedly lose myself into had I kept staring into them a moment longer. His face was a perfect example of perfection; despite how much I'd been taught that everyone was excellent in different ways, this man right here took the definition of that word to a completely different level.

His lips were an enticing lighter shade of pink, and the fact that it was stretched in a sneaky smirk had my insides melting into a gooey mess.

My thighs clenched at the same time, and I was seemingly drowning in this hulk of a man, who looked like he was in his late thirties, when suddenly he said to me, a grin bubbling up from underneath him, my trance cut short also, “Hello, you seem quite enraptured? Is there anything you’d like to say to me?”
