Description
When Amelia discovered she was pregnant with her billionaire husband Ryan's child, after three long years of longing and heartbreak, she was happy. She couldn't wait to share the joyous news with him and finally bring a piece of their love into the world. When she got home, her excitement turned to icy dread when she saw the divorce papers Ryan had prepared for her to sign, unaware of the miracle blossoming inside her. Five years later, the past haunted both of them. Ryan's world shatters when he learned the son he had dutifully raised with Brenda, for the last five years, wasn't his flesh and blood and that Amelia was with twins five years ago. Ryan unexpectedly shows up at Amelia's door, driven by desperation and a tormented desire to reclaim his lost family. Will Amelia allow the man who shattered her world back into their lives? And how will their children react to the father they barely know?

“Amelia, you’re pregnant. And not just one baby—you’re expecting twins.”
The words reverberated in her mind, a melody she’d been yearning to hear for three long years. She blinked, eyes shimmering with unshed tears as the doctor’s face softened with a warm smile.
“Congratulations,” he said, handing her the ultrasound print. “This is going to be a life-changing journey.”
Amelia cradled the black-and-white image, her fingers trembling as she took in the small, perfect shapes. “Thank you,” she whispered, a smile breaking through the storm of emotions swirling inside her. She pressed the picture to her chest, feeling the first whispers of hope blooming within her.
The drive home felt surreal, the city’s usual chaos a distant hum as she hummed a soft tune, lost in the thought of Ryan’s reaction. The sun bathed her golden-brown hair in a warm glow as she envisioned his expression, the joy in his eyes.
“Finally,” she thought, “the one thing we both wanted.”
But as she pushed open the front door to their sprawling penthouse, a chill settled in her bones. The silence was deafening, the absence of any welcoming warmth clinging to the air like a storm waiting to break.
“Ryan?” she called out, her voice echoing down the marbled hallway. No answer.
With a sigh, Amelia walked into the bedroom—her sanctuary on better days. Her gaze dropped, and she frowned. A stack of papers lay haphazardly on the cream duvet. The edges fluttered slightly, as if whispering secrets to her.
“What’s this?” she muttered, crossing the room.
Her pulse quickened as she lifted the top sheet. The bold, printed words burned into her vision—Divorce Agreement.
“No,” she whispered, stumbling back a step. The room tilted, reality slipping from her grasp. This couldn’t be happening. Not now. Not when everything was finally falling into place.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket, jolting her from the fog. She fumbled to answer, barely catching her breath.
“Ryan?”
“Did you see them?” His voice was smooth, clipped, each word a calculated blow.
“See what?” She knew the answer but couldn’t stop herself from asking, hoping against reason.
“The papers, Amelia. I left them for you.”
“But why?” Her voice cracked, tears threatening to spill. “Ryan, we’re—”
“Sign them,” he interrupted, the steel in his tone cutting through her like ice.
“Sign them and move on.”
“Ryan, wait!” The words tumbled out, desperation clawing at her throat. “There’s something I need to tell you.”
A beat of silence.
“It doesn’t matter anymore,” he said, voice void of warmth. “Goodbye, Amelia.”
The call ended with a hollow click. The phone slipped from her fingers, landing on the carpet with a soft thud. Her legs buckled, and she sank onto the bed, the weight of the moment pressing down on her chest.
The ultrasound image fluttered from her grasp and landed beside the divorce papers, stark in their finality.
Amelia stared at the two pieces of her fractured life, eyes wide with disbelief, a silent scream caught in her throat as the promise of joy shattered before her.
