It was during a particularly tense family dinner that the shift became undeniable.
Nathan, who had grown increasingly bitter, decided to take another jab. “So, Greg,” he said, his tone dripping with condescension, “you’ve been awfully quiet about your past. Care to enlighten us?”
Brian set down his fork, his expression calm. “Not much to tell,” he said lightly. “Lost everything in the market crash. Started over.”
Nathan’s smirk widened. “How convenient. A clean slate with no questions asked.”
