Chapter 1

Chloe Regens

I smiled widely as I landed in Paris. I wanted to surprise my boyfriend for our third anniversary. Xander is the best thing that has happened to me; he's my prince charming. He's so sweet, handsome, and has a lot of charm.

I'm a girl who still believes in fairytales. Now I'm living in one, and I'm so happy. Three years of a relationship is not easy; we have had so many ups and downs in life, but it has made us stronger.

I grabbed a taxi to go to Xander's hotel. I miss him, and he has been in Paris for a week now. We've only FaceTimed a few times, but that's it. I really miss him; call me clingy, but when you fall in love big time, it will make you clingy.

I looked at the blue box that I'd prepared for him. He wanted this watch for a long time, and I have been saving for quite some time now. At last, I got him one. His name is carved on the back of that watch, making it even more special.

My phone rang, making me flinch. I took out my phone and answered it.

"Where are you?" Oh, no. Not again.

"Paris."

"What are you doing there?" Jack asked.

"I'm going to see Xander." I heard Jack groan.

My brother, Jack Regens, never liked Xander. He hates him and has asked me to break up with him a thousand times, but I've proved to him that he's a really good guy, and we have already gone through three years together.

"Not him again... Is he asking for your money again this time?" he asked.

"No, it's our third anniversary."

"Stay there for one night and go straight to New York," Jack said.

"Huh? For what?"

"Sebastian is getting married."

"No, I won't leave. I want to stay here with Xander."

"Yes you will, Chloe. Don't make me cut your credit card!" he threatened.

"It's our anniversary," I whined.

"No excuses, Chloe. Get your ass here by tomorrow or else," he said and ended the call. I hissed and not long after that, I arrived in front of Xander's hotel.

Taking my luggage, I walked into the hotel. I called Xander's phone and waited for him to answer. I glanced around, scanning for any sign of Xander emerging from the elevator or possibly entering the hotel.

My eyes widened as I caught sight of Emma passing by. "What is she doing here?" I wondered aloud. I couldn't help but watch as she leaned against the wall, patiently waiting for the elevator doors to open. My curiosity was piqued, and I couldn't look away.

As the lift opened, she smiled, and... what the hell?! Right before my eyes, Xander and Emma locked lips in a passionate kiss. They stepped into the elevator, still locked in their embrace, and the kissing continued. Shocked and unable to believe what I was witnessing, I sprinted towards the closing elevator doors, desperate to intervene before they sealed shut..

"Chloe?" Xander's eyes widened as he saw me.

"What are you doing here?" Emma asked.

"Shouldn't I be the one asking you that?" I asked shrewdly to Emma. I got into the lift and closed it quickly.

"How long?" I asked.

"One year," Emma answered.

"Emma..." Xander was clearly out of words.

"Happy 3rd Anniversary, Xander... I'm breaking up with you." I turned to look at him and then to Emma.

"What a nice best friend you are... taking what's mine." I smiled sweetly before I slapped her big time.

"Chloe, let's talk, okay? I can explain," Xander pleaded desperately.

"No need for explanations," Emma declared with a triumphant smirk. "I'm pregnant with your child!"

My eyes widened in shock and anger as I turned to Emma. "This traitor!" I seethed inwardly. I couldn't believe that she, my supposed best friend, had betrayed me.

"Unbelievable!" The elevator doors slid open, and I gestured for them to exit. Just before the doors closed, I pulled Emma's hair as a final act of anger. My heart burned with intensity, yet the strangest thing was that... I didn't shed a tear.

My phone rang, and Xander's name appeared on the screen. "What an asshole!" I thought.

He's unbelievable... I trusted him! I walked out of the lift and took my luggage again. I hailed a cab and decided to go back to New York.

How could he have cheated on me for an entire year without my suspicion? They even slept together! Damn it!

I hastily booked the nearest flight to New York, rushed to the airport once more, and boarded the plane. My phone incessantly rang with Xander's name on the screen. What was he attempting? Trying to win me back? Over my dead body.

"I'm on my way back to New York; are you already there?" I asked my brother over the phone.

"Why the sudden change? Yeah, I've been in New York since I called you earlier," Jack replied.

"Xander cheated on me with Emma. Emma is pregnant with his child!" I exclaimed, still couldn't believe that this was happening to me.

"Oh shit!" Jack cursed.

"Fire Emma and make Xander's life miserable," I said with determination.

"Of course... No one messes with my sister," Jack said, and I found myself smiling.

"Are you okay? Are you crying right now?" he asked.

"No... he's not worth it. You're right."

"Of course he's not worth it! That's my sister... how about you find a hot guy at Sebastian's wedding?"

"Too bad Sebastian is taken... I had a crush on him when I was little," I said, and Jack chuckled.

"Find someone else."

"I don't think I'm ready to find a guy yet, Jack; I just broke up with my boyfriend, you asshole." I hissed, and he laughed.

"It's fine... You'll find someone there."

"Mom and dad coming too?" I asked.

"Nah... only you and me.”

"See you there, Jack; send me the details of the hotel we're staying at," I said, and he ended the call. I sighed and looked out the window.

How could my Prince Charming cheat on me? I always believed that Xander and I would get married one day and maybe have cute little kids... Dang it! It's all just a dream. Stupid dream!

I find myself not crying... which is weird because I'm pretty sure that I liked Xander a lot. But why aren't my tears coming out?

Xander... I will not forgive you!
